Mindfulness-Based Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

The aim of this project is to assess whether adding a mindfulness element (derived from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to ERP in a group therapy setting improves overall treatment outcomes for adults with OCD. The group program is a manualised 10week courses with a focus on ERP, with an added component of Mindfulness skills that will be practiced and utilised with ERP throughout the program.  It is anticipated that the addition of the Mindfulness component will reduce OCD symptom severity.  The purpose of the study is to therefore evaluate whether mindfulness aids participants’ ability to regulate their distress and increase their overall quality of life.  The group program will be free of charge to enable a service to individuals who otherwise may not have had access to treatment.

Two 10-week MB-ERP programs will commence in 2018. The two MB-ERP groups will be limited to 10 members per group, and each participant must attend every session. To secure a place in the program please encourage any suitable candidates to register ASAP by filling out the attached registration form or calling Melbourne Wellbeing Group on (03) 9882-8875. If clients cannot secure a place in time for the January intake they may still be eligible for a wait list for a future group.
