When a photographer picks up a camera, these are just some of the things that go through their minds before they hit the shutter. It’s very hard to ruminate over your life’s problems when you are creating an image. I know this from experience!

Mindful photography is more than just the snapshot, it is the process of photography with more elements to consider than whether your subject has a nice looking smile or pout!

When you are engaged in the process of photography whether you are photographing a landscape, humans or anything else, you feel a sense of calm and excitment at the same time. It can be meditative to consider all of the elements of light and anticipate movement or change of state of your subject.

The morning of the workshop you will receive a short survey and as part of a study to investigate the effects of mindful photography on wellbeing. Please complete the survey before the class. There will be another short survey to fill out at the completion of the class.

Mindful photography is a great way learn the rules of photography and then break every one of them! Photography is the greatest mix of science and art!
