ASIST
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
Facilitated by Michelle Graeber (CEO) and Renee Tsatsis LivingWorks Aus
ASIST is the most widely used suicide intervention model in the world. In this 2 day interactive workshop, learn how to:
• Reflect on how your attitudes and beliefs about suicide affect your intervention role
• Discuss suicide with a person thinking about suicide in a clear and direct manner
• Build a collaborative approach to intervention focused on safe outcomes
• Review immediate suicide risk and develop appropriate safeplans
• Recognize that suicide prevention is broader than suicide first aid and includes life promotion and self care for caregivers
ASIST is run by registered LivingWorks trainers and uses internationally standardized learning materials.

Tricho & Dermo Retreat 2020
The aim of this retreat is to provide participants with the opportunity to enjoy activities that they normally feel inhibited to do because of Trichotillomania & Dermotillominia. The retreat will also provide opportunities for personal growth, greater self-awareness and self acceptance. Participants will grow more confident over the course of the retreat growing from sharing with others and leaving with new ‘hope’ and strength. This is a rare opportunity to share the secrecy and intricacies of living with Trichotillomania and Dermotillomania a warm, accepting and non-judgemental environment & is one not to be missed.
The Retreat Program
Our destination this year is the beautiful Carrington House in Daylesford. This historical home sits befittingly in the centre of town in walking distance from the heart of Daylesford. This elegant Victorian home has a charming, mature garden and features 9 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. Carrington House has been furnished with a beautifully eclectic style. “The Worlds Funkiest Town” - You’ll fall in love with Daylesford, the Spa Centre of Victoria, Australia. Experience open-hearted, peaceful hospitality everywhere you go, from the area’s evocative countryside to sophisticated villages alive with urban chic.
Accommodation offers shared sleeping arrangements, or you can pay extra for your own private room. The retreat will provide a series of opportunities for guided group sharing and interactive workshops in quaint and rustic cosy accommodation. There will be workshops, pampering sessions and mindfulness activities. The retreat is a program which will consist of:
- A series of gentle experiential workshops providing opportunities to work on self esteem, self acceptance, personal growth and to explore and share our journeys and wisdom with each other at your pace
- Utilising the great outdoors and idyllic environment we will relax, relate and recharge with inner self meditation, mindfulness activities, nature walks, photography and craft (please bring a camera/ smartphone).
- Free time to relax, journal, connect with others, or just have some personal quiet time.
This structured program will provide a safe environment to explore and re-connect with yourself, others and nature at a deeper level whilst learning some management strategies to gently challenge the hold anxiety can at times have on our life. The retreat experience will be a journey of discovery, growth, hope and acceptance.

Michelle Graeber ARCVic CEO & Educator
Michelle, an educator, has experience and long association working in community development and the not for profit sector. With a strong training and development background she is passionate about providing quality community education and services for everyone. Michelle believes that we all have the responsibility to work better together to provide a more inclusive and sensitive community.
Renee Tsatsis ARCVIc Helpline Co-ordinator & Educator
Renee has worked at ARCVic for 8 years and in the broader community sector for 15 years. She has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Social Work. Renee has extensive experience in training and supervision, community education, and in providing support services. She is passionate about quality services being affordable and available to all members of the community.
When: Monday 24th to Wednesday 26h February 2020 (option to stay additional night Wednesday 26th Feb at no extra cost)
Costs : (include accommodation, food & workshops)
Please note a grant from the DHHS has allowed us to provide a $150 subsidy per person. To receive the maximum subsidy of $150 please pay a deposit of $150 by 15th November 2019 and full payment must be received by the 15th of January 2020

Mindfulness Based Stress and Anxiety Program
4 Week Group Program
Starting Wednesday 11th March 2020
Mindfulness is a gentle but powerful way of learning to pay attention. This program is an introduction to the practice of informal and formal mindfulness to help reduce stress and manage anxiety.
In this 4 week group, you will learn how to become more aware of how your mind works, acknowledge when unhelpful thought and behavior patterns arise, and learn strategies to assist with intense feelings and sensations in the body associated with stress and anxiety.
Dates: 4 x 1.5 hour sessions: Wednesday March 11th, 18th, 25th and April 1st 2020
Time: 10.30am-12pm
